The Three Day Workshop Format

Overview – for three days, you will have the unique opportunity to meet other filmmakers; to learn and discuss your craft; and to share your experiences as artists and story tellers.

Day One – a combination of lecture, class discussion, film clips and a Q & A session with a special guest speaker. You will also get an assignment for Day Two.

Day Two – analysis of the class assignment, lecture, film clips and a Q & A session with another special guest speaker. You will also get an assignment for Day Three.

Day Three – analysis of the class assignment plus the hands-on part of the workshop. You will be partnered with another director for a staging and composition exercise. Each group will direct two “actors” (class participants) and pick camera angles that best portray the scene and character objectives.

Workshop Objective – When this 3 day workshop is completed, you will see for yourself how any director, even someone with very little experience, can effectively block a scene and get a believable performance from an actor!

Peter we have sent mails to each other before when I started my directing career in 2008,what I need to know is for we coming from Nigeria it becomes a visa problem and I would love to actually be at your workshop as everyone who has ever read any of my interviews in the mags in Nigeria always here me mention your name as my teacher and it will be nice to finally be at your seminars and am still hoping you will let us try and organise a directors and an actors seminar in Nigeria.

Peter, Curses like this becomes a problem for the Nigerian Directors because of Visa problems and the stigma attached to Nigerians in issues of security, as the outside world sees every Nigerian as a security risk. Its not fair really as there are many Nigerians out there making great contribution in various fields to make this world a better place and they excels in those areas.It would have been nice to attend one of Ur seminars because you’ve been a great motivator and a teacher to most of us. I pray that one day we will organize a directors seminar in Nigeria where you will be a resource person.

Dear Peter, I’m a regular visitor to your website and I found your article very interesting. I’m a Nigeria thou I don’t visa is my problem but my problem is a lot of people from this side is finding it difficult to attend a program in country like Canada, U.S.A and United Kingdom where they can have a strong education on film making and directing to improve their career in film industry. I’m once a student of Dov S-S Simens & Hollywood Film Institute. I want to improve myself and I think you can make seminar available in West Africa where our people can participate. Please I believe we can do it.
